Chemical inventory — common questions
Can we import our existing chemical spreadsheet?+
Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel file and the importer maps your columns automatically (it understands 100+ common header names). You review the mapping before anything is saved.
Do we have to type in hazard data by hand?+
No. Search PubChem by name or CAS to auto-fill formula, molecular weight, GHS pictograms, hazard and precautionary statements and signal word — or scan a bottle label and let Claude read it. You always review before saving.
How are Safety Data Sheets handled?+
Upload an SDS PDF against a chemical. It's stored privately (per-organisation, EU/London) and served via short-lived signed URLs. You can mark an SDS as verified and the platform tracks who verified it and when.
Is this a COSHH assessment?+
No. The platform organises the hazard data and records that support a COSHH assessment, and exports a COSHH hazard summary — but the formal assessment remains your responsibility.
Will it warn us before chemicals expire?+
Yes. Expiry is colour-coded (red / amber / green) across the inventory, and a daily check emails your admins a digest of what's expired or expiring soon.
