How is this different from Freezerworks or a freezer spreadsheet?+
You get the same core capabilities — storage hierarchy, visual box maps, aliquot lineage, freeze–thaw counts and chain of custody — but web-based, multi-user and integrated with the rest of your lab platform. No separate desktop install, no per-seat licences for a standalone tool, and your samples share the same roles and audit log as your chemicals and equipment.
Can we import our existing freezer inventory?+
Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel file and the importer maps your columns automatically. Samples land as 'stored', and you rack them into boxes visually afterwards using the box map.
How do the box maps work?+
Each box is a grid you define (for example 9×9 for an 81-place cryobox, or 8×12 for a 96-well layout). Slots are labelled A1, B2, and so on. Click an empty slot to place a sample; click a filled one to open it. A physical slot can only hold one sample, so double-booking is impossible.
Does it track aliquots and freeze–thaw cycles?+
Yes. Split any sample into a set of aliquots that inherit its identity and link back to the parent, so lineage is always traceable. Each sample also carries a freeze–thaw counter you increment with one click, logged to its history.
Is there a full chain of custody?+
Every create, move, check-out and check-in is written to an append-only event trail with the user and timestamp, and mirrored into the platform-wide audit log — ready for inspections and disputes.
