SOPs & protocol control

Controlled documents, signed and audit-ready.

Labs run on SOPs — and audits (ISO, UKAS, funders) want proof of who read which version, when. LevelSixLabs gives you a version-controlled protocol library with reader assignment and read-and-sign records, sitting alongside your training, risk assessments and equipment. Once your SOPs and sign-off history live here, you're always inspection-ready.

  • Version control with change notes
  • Assign readers per SOP
  • Read-and-sign against the exact version
  • See who's signed and who's outstanding

Version control

Every revision is kept with a change note. The current version is the single controlled copy; older ones are marked superseded, never lost.

Read-and-sign

Assigned readers confirm they've read and understood — recorded against the exact version, with name and timestamp.

Reader assignment

Assign an SOP to the people it applies to. See at a glance who's signed and who's still outstanding.

Re-sign on change

Publish a new version and everyone assigned is prompted to read and sign again — old signatures stay against the old version.

Review reminders

Set a review interval so SOPs don't quietly go stale — the platform flags when one is due for review.

Audit-ready

Produce the who-read-what-when record ISO 17025, UKAS and funders ask for — no spreadsheet chasing.

Write in-app

Author SOPs directly in the platform, or paste from your existing documents. No separate tool, no shared-drive sprawl.

One platform

SOPs sit beside training records, risk assessments and equipment — link the procedure to the instrument it governs.

Stop chasing SOP sign-offs on a spreadsheet.

Controlled documents, reader assignment and a signed-off record in one place — so an audit is a link to send, not a week of paperwork.

SOPs & protocol control — common questions

Does this give us the record auditors want?+

Yes. Each acknowledgement is stored against the specific version a person read, with their name and a timestamp, and every change is in the audit log. That's the controlled-document + training evidence ISO 17025, UKAS and funders typically ask for.

What happens when we update an SOP?+

You create a new version (carried forward from the current text), edit it, and publish. The previous version is marked superseded — never deleted — and everyone assigned is prompted to read and sign the new version. Old signatures remain against the old version.

Can we control who has to read each SOP?+

Yes. Assign each SOP to the specific people it applies to. The detail page shows who has signed the current version and who is still outstanding, so nothing slips through.

Do we write SOPs in the app or upload files?+

You write (or paste) SOPs directly in the app for the cleanest versioning and read-and-sign experience. File attachment is on the roadmap for teams that want to keep formatted Word/PDF originals alongside.

How does it connect to the rest of the platform?+

SOPs live beside training records, risk assessments and equipment, sharing the same roles and audit log — so you can point a procedure at the instrument it governs and keep all your compliance evidence in one place.
